LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI.

DEPARTMENT: Office of Advancement

PAY: $85,000 - $95,000 per year

The Role:

 

This position is responsible for pursuing grants that address University needs, enhance University programs, and support scholarships, capital projects, and University strategic initiatives. The position will also serve as project manager and lead writer for each grant opportunity and will be responsible for tracking and reporting on all grant development activity at the University, including grant proposals under consideration, in development, pending, and submitted.

You Will:

 

• Develop a written strategic plan for grant development for the University with benchmarks and key performance indicators such as total grant funds raised; percent of funding success (secured funds in relationship to submitted); percent of proposals submitted that support University strategic initiatives.

 

• Identify, research, and analyze potential funding sources in support of strategic University initiatives. Publicize to appropriate administrators, faculty, and staff potential sources of grant funding.

 

• Coordinate the development, preparation, and submission of all grant proposals; facilitate terms, conditions, and compliance related to all grant proposals and awards.

 

• Manage a portfolio of grantors, private and community foundations, and government prospects.

 

• Maintain a database of grant opportunities and ensure data integrity.

• 5 or more years of grant writing or fundraising experience required.

 

• Demonstrated excellent written communication and proposal preparation skills.

 

• Demonstrated the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.

 

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, which transcend diverse audiences.

• Prior experience working in higher education, a non-profit organization, or in the business development arena.

 

• A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to donors, alums, students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
