Reports to: Program Manager, Building Bridges Through Education

▪ Job Type/Salary: $38,000.00 to $45,000.00; Full Time

Job Summary
The Success Navigator is a mentor and coach to participants of the Building Bridges Through Education (BBTE) Initiative, who functions primarily to assist students in linking academic, personal and professional goals. The Success Navigator assists with the development, coordination, and implementation of activities related to the BBTE initiative. The Success Navigator serves as a liaison to resources, experiential learning opportunities, and internships/employment.

Essential Functions
• Provides services to BBTE participants, including, but not limited to career goal setting, resource advising, assistance with resume/employment application, internship placement information, experiential learning opportunities, and recruiting;
• Develops and manages an effective and continuous communication and marketing strategy
• Develops and manages the mentorship element of the initiative, including, but not limited to recruiting, onboarding, matching and aiding mentors;
• Assist with cross-functional (internal) project planning and execution including collaboration with different universities, companies, students, nonprofits and stakeholders around West Michigan;
• Assists students in goal setting compatible with their interests, needs, and abilities;
• Assists with candidate recruitment, resource navigation;
• Assists with planning and coordination of engagement and outreach campaigns, and management of events to support Building Bridges Through Education goals;
• Assists students in applying for program;
• Registers students for online assessments;
• Assists with industry field trips;
• Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding candidates, supervisors or other employees;
• Represent the program and organization in community

Minimum Education, Skills and Ability
• 2-years’ experience in community-based program or outreach
• Bachelor’s degree in student services, business, education, or a closely related area;
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of integrated software systems and Microsoft Office applications;
• Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;
• Demonstrated skills in facilitating and mentoring/coaching;
• Demonstrated skills in project management;
• Ability to work effectively within an ethnic, cultural and socially diverse population;
• Ability to work collegially and collaboratively;
• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated strong interpersonal skills;
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to work with a committee or a team;
• Excellence in providing and modeling quality customer service;
• Ability to think “outside the box” and to lead and manage change, as well as engagement strategy;
• Communicates Effectively (in English and Spanish)

Preferred Education, Skills, and Abilities
• Experience in a high school/college setting or placed base program working with youth/young adults
