Our country's long-standing commitment to providing refuge for people fleeing violence and persecution is being compromised. The president's administration has taken action to effectively eliminate asylum and potentially end refugee resettlement. As well as expedited deportations and family separation.
West Michigan has a long history of welcoming. In response to these policy proposals and changes, we will "Rise For Refuge" to advocate for policy change and reaffirm our commitment to refugees, immigrants and asylum-seekers in West Michigan as part of a nationwide day of action.
Please join us on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10am to Noon at Tabernacle Community Church in Grand Rapids, MI.
