Employment Specialist Job Summary:
The Employment Specialist serves as an employment coach and recruiting expert responsible for sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining quality talent for companies across West Michigan. This role requires building a strong pool of skilled associates, filling job orders efficiently, and maintaining accurate documentation in the automated system. Success depends on strong consultative sales skills, effective communication, and a compassionate, professional, people-focused approach.
Employment Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Fill all qualified job orders with urgency and accuracy.
  • Take complete, well-qualified job orders and maintain consistent communication with clients regarding openings.
  • Recruit, interview, and retain a qualified pool of associates while following the Express Employee Selection Process.
  • Coordinate client interviews, assignments, and follow-up to ensure high satisfaction for both clients and associates.
  • Build and expand business with existing and new accounts through weekly outreach, inside sales calls, MPC calls, and client visits.
  • Present the full range of Express service offerings to broaden and diversify the client base.
  • Conduct safety tours and participate in marketing and community engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely fulfillment of job orders and overall office effectiveness.
  • Provide administrative supervision of Express associates and ensure compliance with Express guidelines and applicable employment laws.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the local market, staffing industry, labor laws, and Express pricing and service strategies.
  • Prepare reports, track activity metrics, and participate in regular development meetings with the Team Leader and/or Franchisee.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including quarterly Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
Employment Specialist Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, Psychology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience required; staffing agency experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse roles is a plus.
  • Proven success meeting or exceeding recruiting or sales performance metrics.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to assess client needs and deliver strategic workforce solutions.
  • Proficiency with ATS, CRM systems, and advanced sourcing tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, AI sourcing tools).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • High professionalism, integrity, accountability, and ability to give/receive feedback.
  • Compassionate, service-oriented mindset with commitment to supporting individuals through job transitions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel locally for client meetings.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
