Behavior Specialist II

What You Will Be Doing
Working full-time (40 hrs/wk) as a Behavior Specialist II you’ll have the opportunity to be a part of the ISK Behavior Treatment Team and work directly with a caseload of individuals who require a Behavior Treatment Plan or a Behavior Support Plan. You will create data collection forms specific to the plans, collect and assist with analyzing data for the approximate 100 Behavior Plans of the Behavior Treatment Team as a whole. You will be responsible for understanding the plans, training the providers, and ensuring that the plans are being implemented as written, helping to move individuals through established titrations written to reach the goals of the person served. You’ll work closely with the Behavior Treatment Committee (BTRC) through submission and presentation of Behavior Plans for approval as well as completing quarterly reviews, including data and analysis, and provide an overall summary of the effectiveness and progress of the plans. You will work closely with case managers and provider agencies providing consultation and recommendations for individuals who may not require a Behavior Plan, but only Behavior Guidelines (not reviewed by the BTRC).
What We Require
You will have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related human service field and three years of experience as well as the ability to support the confidential nature of working with individuals diagnosed with a mental illness and/or co-occurring disorder, a serious emotional disturbance, and/or an intellectual disability. You will meet the eligibility criteria of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and/or Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP). Excellent communication writing, interpersonal, and human relation skills. Advanced computer skills, including word processing, data base management, electronic health record, and e-mail. Required licenses: Valid Michigan Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts – Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate. May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
