Lead HR Generalist

We're seeking a Lead HR Generalist who combines HR expertise with a passion for making a difference. In this role, you'll be instrumental in supporting our mission to improve mental health and wellbeing across our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end HR operations for assigned departments, including recruitment, benefits, employee relations, and performance management
  • Provide expert guidance on FMLA, ADA, and Workers' Compensation
  • Mentor and support HR Generalist team members with complex cases and policy interpretation
  • Drive strategic initiatives including job fairs, recruitment campaigns, and DEI&B initiatives
  • Serve as primary HR contact during CHRO absence
  • Participate in agency committees that shape our organizational culture

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of HR experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA)
  • Proven experience with HRIS systems, ATS platforms, and sourcing CRM software
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment and talent acquisition
  • Track record of fostering inclusive workplaces and advancing DEIB initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional HR Certification (PHR/SHRM-CP)
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Business Management
  • Experience with UKG Ready

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts
– Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate.  May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate.  Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.               

Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers,
copy machine, and telephones.  Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time.  Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen.  May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites.  Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
