Scope of Responsibility

Cascade Engineering has an opening for a Maintenance Technician A. This role is responsible for supporting production needs, diagnosing, repairing complex equipment, trouble shooting of hydraulics and malfunctions, repairs and conducting all aspects of preventative maintenance. This position is in-plant working with the heavy repair-team at the Buursma Plant where we produce carts for waste and recycling! The injection molding machines range from 1500-4500 tons! The majority of the time will be spent troubleshooting presses, doing preventative maintenance and participating in long-term projects. This position is ideal for an individual with 2-5 years of maintenance experience who is eager to learn and advance in the trade. 

Shift: 11p - 7:10pm Sunday – Thursday with some weekends for overtime

Location: Buursma Plant (4950 37th St., Grand Rapids, MI 49512) 

Target Pay: $23 - $34.94 / hour

Responsibilities

Day to day – Maintenance of injection molding machines, programs PC-based molding and secondary equipment, and control systems. Troubleshoots molding, robots, secondary equipment, diagnoses and solves machine malfunctions. Computer system upkeep

Preventative Maintenance - Repairs electric, hydraulic and pneumatic machine malfunctions, perform preventative maintenance procedures, observes and corrects irregular machine conditions, builds and designs secondary equipment as required. Fabricate and weld assemblies for production equipment and be responsible for the repair and maintenance of water cooling systems

Project Work - Installs and upgrades machines and equipment. Participate in development and use of TPM system. Train technicians and Maintenance A personnel to perform basic maintenance operations and Completion of projects as assigned. Maintain machine and work area cleanliness, compliance with all safety policies, regulations and laws and other duties as assigned

Requirements

Maintenance A

  • High school diploma/GED or Equivalency
  • 2-5 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • CE core competencies at the "Front-line Leaders" level
  • Basic writing and math skills
  • Lockout/tag out compliance
  • The ability to perform heavy lifting (of  up to 100 pounds) and moving
  • Valid driver’s license /meets Cascades driving policy requirements
  • Basic computer skills
  • Preventative maintenance

Preferred Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements

  • Basic injection molding process and equipment knowledge
  • Can perform basic robot operations
  • Rigging/overhead crane (40-90 ton)
