The Chief Impact Officer will directly impact the community by spearheading innovative strategies and programs. The Chief Impact Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and evaluating equitable funding priorities for Heart of West Michigan United Way based on the community needs of multiple counties, as well as the grant process for partnering with agencies and managing the organization's programs that directly meet these needs. They set program outcome targets that align to the mission and vision of the organization. In addition, they lead the organization's Transformation Strategy with the goal to close the achievement gaps for people of color.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 8-10 years in leadership/management role in the nonprofit sector. Work-related experience must consist of successful people leadership, program evaluation, fund distribution, policy development, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proven ability to implement and create leading and best-practice programs. Proven ability to work across multiple counties with different needs simultaneously.
  • Experience with funding and program development in Kent County and relationships developed with key stakeholders in Kent County are strongly preferred.
  • Experience applying equity and inclusion principles to decision-making.

  • Change Leadership: Embrace and drive change; drive continuous improvement culture while modeling appropriate risk behavior.
  • Talent Optimization: Engages team members and develops clear goals and expectations. Provides recognition, feedback, and coaching for individual development.
  • Project Management: Ability to lead the planning, organization, monitoring, and control of all aspects of a project and the motivation of all involved to achieve the project objectives within agreed parameters including performance criteria.
  • Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills to initiate, build, and continuously strengthen diverse partnerships within the United Way and the community. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Strong communications skills to prepare clear and concise correspondence, speak articulately, and demonstrate proficient public speaking skills.
  • Experience as a volunteer in a variety of roles-from direct service to board member-- with various organizations preferred.
  • High level of organization and prioritization skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with set deadlines/guidelines.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications and database management.
