Summary of Position: • Assist with the accurate data entry and maintenance of student academic records, academic courses, and provide excellent student/customer-centered service at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University.
• Reports directly to the Dean of Academic Affairs at KCAD.
• This position will require the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events such as commencement.
• This is a full-time temporary position ending June 30, 2025.

Required Education: • Satisfactory completion of two years of college or equivalent.

• Equivalency for education is two years of full-time related work experience equals one year of education.
Required Work Experience: • At least two years of successful work experience performing duties requiring accuracy and attention to detail.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: • Bachelor’s degree.
• Work experience in higher education.
• Experience with Banner.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Provide primary phone, e-mail, and walk-in assistance to students, alumni, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Maintain transcript requests information.
• Process forms including Authorization to Disclose Information forms and enrollment verifications.
• Verify enrollment for VA certifications.
• Process guest student applications.
• Provide data for the President’s and Dean’s Lists.
• Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Perform mid-term and final grade verification.
• Enter, edit, and maintain related data in Banner including address changes.
• Assist with course registration including student program plan updates and schedule entry.
• Assist with commencement and all related activities, including updating and maintaining commencement lists, programs, and information, communication with candidates, ordering and distributing commencement materials, and participating in commencement rehearsal and ceremony.
• Process and maintain office forms.
• Learn and utilize online advising tool (MyDegree).
• Scan and index records in Xtender.
• Assist Academic Advisor with transfer student information.
• Maintain/update Faculty Advisor lists in Banner.
• Prepare and distribute program plans to faculty advisors/program chairpersons.
• Create enrollment reports.
• Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information and performing duties with accuracy and in compliance with FERPA and all other applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
• Train/assist faculty, staff, and students on / with MyDegree.
• Access, update, and maintain Academic Affairs section of KCAD.edu website.
• Assist Academic Affairs with other projects and duties as needed.
• Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: • Perform general clerical duties such as e-mailing, typing, filing, copying, and faxing.
• Maintain related information on website.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to learn new data systems and software.
• Ability to perform duties independently, self-directed, and responsibly.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni.
• Strong typing and grammar skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
