Summary of Position: Adjunct instructors are needed to teach undergraduate business management courses as part of Ferris State University's Prison Education Program at Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer, Michigan. These positions require face-to-face instruction at the facility.

This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is being used for face-to-face instruction, and the candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.

The anticipated start date of this position is May 2025 at the earliest and May 2026 at the latest. These are estimated dates that may be revised as needed to match part-of-term assignments.
Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing
Required Education: A master's degree in business management or relevant discipline for the course.
Required Work Experience: Three years of industry experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications: Successful candidates will need to complete a background check through LEIN, the Michigan Department of Corrections/MDOC Contractors training through Mi-TRAIN, and an on-site orientation.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Previous teaching experience at college level.
Previous teaching experience in a prison education program.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Provide face-to-face instruction assuring/improving learning through assessment; close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities, which may include, but are not limited to, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students) and participating in traditional functions that have academic significance (e.g., reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time).
Demonstrates understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
