Summary of Position: This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis to teach lecture and laboratory classes for students for the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree. The qualified applicants for this pooled position will be a First Aid CPR Instructor certified through the American Heart Association. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Potential courses include Introduction to Exercise Science, Introduction to Fitness and Wellness, and First Aid and Emergency Management.
The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2025 at the earliest and January of 2026 at the latest. However, these are estimated dates and can be revised if needed.
Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing
Required Education: Master’s degree in Exercise Science or closely related field (e.g. Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Athletic Training, or Human Performance)
Required Work Experience: Minimum of two years of work experience in their field of study and/or in higher education
Required Licenses and Certifications: First Aid CPR Instructor certified through the American Heart Association

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:  
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Provide instruction in classrooms, laboratories, or online for students in the Bachelors
Degree of Exercise Science program as assigned in the College of Health Professions.

Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Faculty members also have professional responsibilities, which may include but are not limited to keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students) and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (i.e. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time).

Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities:  
Skills and Abilities: Effectively teach assigned courses, assist in development of course content, utilization of Canvas for disseminating course information and recording grades, respond to students’ questions and concerns in a timely manner.
