Community Health Worker

What You Will Be Doing
A Contingent Community Health Worker, tends to primarily be responsible for dispatching appropriate clinical on-call staff to assist with needs during “Urgent Care” hours of operation. UCAC Contingent Community Health Workers tend to mostly work on-call/standby opportunities and are generally utilized for covering PTO/holidays and can be directly scheduled for this coverage; otherwise, they tend to pick up on-call/standby shifts which are utilized when a staff schedule calls in or needs to leave due to whatever reason. Contingent Community Health Workers primarily cover night/overnight shifts, but there are day shifts at times as well.
What We Require
A high school diploma or GED with 1 year of work experience in mental health, healthcare, or community resources is required. You must be able to prioritize tasks and manage time in an effective and efficient manner. You must be able to work independently, maintain professional boundaries and be detail orientated. Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail is required. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required. Lived experiences with behavioral health are desired. We are looking for staff that are able to work outside of ISK's traditional business hours, as this position will be positioned at our new 24hr site! Weekend and night hours preferred. Flexibility in schedule may be discussed.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts – Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate. May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
