Job Description
The Coordinator of the Peer Partnership Learning program and Group Study Sessions supervises all aspects of both programs to help students become independent and collaborative learners. Collaborates with academic departments to offer these support services. This individual reports to the director of the Academic Success Center. This is a salaried position, 40 hours/week,10 months/year (August 15 – June 15), including periodic evening hours (Monday – Thursday, 6:00-9:00 p.m.) throughout the semester.Supervise the Peer Partnership Learning program (PPL) (e.g. Supplemental Instruction)
- Establish and maintain communication with faculty to identify PPL session leaders for their courses.
- Recruit, interview, select, train and supervise PPL leaders.
- Design, establish and maintain a PPL training program, including teaching pedagogy, group learning and group communication skills.
- Serve as a resource for PPL leaders.
- Update PPL resources and forms (e.g. PPL Leader Hand Book, PPL application forms, PPL employment contract, PPL publicity, PPL Moodle resources page, etc.) as needed.
- Maintain open, regular communication with faculty who teach the courses covered by PPL.
- Host weekly PPL Team Meeting for each academic department participating in the PPL program.
- Develop, maintain, and administer assessment tools to monitor PPL sessions and their effectiveness.
- Maintain the portion of the ASC website related to PPL.
- Produce end-of-semester PPL assessment reports in collaboration with CIT and the Frost Center.
Coordinate ASC-sponsored Group Study Sessions
- Recruit, interview and select, as well as provide ongoing training and supervision of student employees who lead ASC-sponsored group study sessions.
- Design and implement a rigorous student employee training program.
- Develop and administer surveys to monitor group study session effectiveness.
- Maintain portions of the ASC website related to group study sessions.
- Maintain open, regular communication with faculty who teach the courses for which the ASC sponsors group study sessions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Meet with students for academic coaching and study skills assistance as-needed.
- Coordinate ASC campus outreach initiatives (i.e. presentations, workshops, pop-ups).
- Design/update and make available study-skills materials for students.
- Assist in the design and delivery of ASC workshops and presentations.
- Develop and maintain the ASC blog and social media channels.
- Collaborate on innovative visioning for the future of the ASC.
- Participate in the preparation of ASC semester reports for the Administration and Faculty summarizing ASC services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Supplemental Instruction Certification and/or experience desired. Experience with a similar program(s) (e.g. PLTL, PALS) will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years experience providing academic support at the college level is strongly preferred.
- Work effectively with people of diverse ages, ethnic, gender and sexual orientation, disabilities, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Skilled in the use of Google Workspace.
Physical Demands
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
