Nature of Work
The purpose of this job is to maintain and improve designated parks grounds including cleaning and addressing safety concerns.  Assists in cleaning the parks and cemeteries sidewalks for seasonal snow removal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Assist with burials, Install grave markers, general landscape maintenance, light equipment maintenance, cleaning & upkeep of facilities
Supervises the work of seasonal maintenance employees; participates in and delegates work assignments
Sets up and takes down tents, chairs and other equipment for burial services; places grave markers
Performs tasks for care of parks and grounds; removes trash and debris; preps equipment for the next season; performs snow removal in wintertime
Maintains grounds by cutting grass, watering, fertilizing, checking for disease and insect damage; trims trees and shrubs; maintains flower beds
Operates and maintains irrigation system; sets timers for pumps and sprinklers; regulates valves, checks for leaks, adjusts pressure hands; waters as needed
Performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs on mowing, spraying and other equipment and facilities fixtures and infrastructure
Operates a variety of standard power tools and equipment in grounds maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis
Performs related work as required

Minimum Training and Experience
Required Education and Experience

High School diploma
--AND--
At least one (1) year of experience in groundskeeping activities, especially on cemetery grounds
--OR--
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Required Licenses or Certifications

Possession of a valid Michigan commercial driver's license or ability to obtain a CDL within the probationary period (6 months).

THIS IS A SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION SUBJECT TO THE DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT) RANDOM DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING PROGRAM.  A DOT WAIVER FORM MUST BE COMPLETED WHEN AN APPLICATION IS SUBMITTED.
