Faculty members are responsible to GRCC and to each other for the successful completion of departmental work as well as work associated with the School of Health Sciences and GRCC as a whole. In addition to the major position responsibilities, faculty are expected to demonstrate outstanding communication skills, collaborate effectively, use personal initiative to overcome obstacles, and work efficiently to meet deadlines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Teach Radiologic Technology and General Health courses across didactic, lab, and clinical settings.
• Develop and implement interactive, technology-integrated teaching methods.
• Assess, document, and advise students on academic and clinical performance.
• Ensure consistent, evidence-based instructional practices in collaboration with colleagues and adjunct faculty.
• Mentor and support adjunct faculty to uphold instructional standards.
• Participate in department activities, including meetings, curriculum development, assessment, evaluation, course revision, committee work, and textbook selection.
• Incorporate diverse instructional strategies and technologies to support student learning.
• Contribute to the ongoing planning, review, development, and effectiveness of the program.
• Assist with program marketing and community outreach efforts.
• Develop course outlines, goals, and objectives aligned with accreditation standards.
• Advise students as part of departmental academic advising efforts.
• Comply with college policies, procedures, and contractual responsibilities.
• Assist the Program Director with reports and required documentation.
• Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administration.
• Engage in continuous professional development and share outcomes with faculty and leadership.
• Maintain required professional credentials.
• Support the College's Strategic Plan through departmental and institutional initiatives.
• Contribute to the broader mission of the Imaging Sciences Department and the College through typical faculty responsibilities.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
• Current ARRT Radiography Registration required.
• Bachelor's degree in education or health related field required.
• Master's degree in education or health related field preferred.
• In addition to the minimum qualifications, applicants with additional certifications (or willingness to pursue additional certifications) are highly preferred (such as CT, MRI, M, BD, etc.)
Work Experience
• Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) recent experience in Radiologic Technology in a hospital setting required.
• Recent experience in radiology or radiologic technology education required.
• Experience in radiology education, curriculum design, and/or utilization of education technology is highly preferred.
• Community College teaching experience or experience teaching adult learners, highly preferred.

• Proven ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals in academic and healthcare environments.

Physical Demands
• Physical Strength - Assist in transferring patients from wheelchairs and beds to X-ray tables and vice versa. Patients may be comatose, paralyzed or suffering from some degree of incapacity. You may have to move heavy equipment, such as a portable X-ray machine, to different locations.
• Mobility - In the course of performing duties in radiography, you will be expected to stand and reach overhead to position the X-ray tube hanging from the ceiling; move quickly in an emergency; and be able to perform work while standing for long periods of time.
• Hearing - Ability to hear faint sounds from a distance of 15 feet-the approximate distance between the control panel of exposure switches and the X-ray table where the patient is being placed. He/she must also be able to hear faint signals emitted by a dysfunctioning machine.
• Visual Discrimination - Have vision that enables him/her to differentiate changing colors of X-ray films and to read markings on dials, monitors etc.
• Coordination - Good motor skills, eye-hand coordination skills, and sensory function in at least one upper limb are needed to align body parts of a patient with the film. Some of the other functions requiring dexterity include filling syringes, putting on surgical gloves, and manipulating locks on equipment.
• Manual Dexterity - Gross motor skills such as standing, walking, and writing are all required to perform the duties of a radiologic technologist. In addition, fine motor skills are needed (such as the ability to make insertion of IV lines, calibrate equipment, draw blood, and so on).
• Communication Skills - Communicate orally and in writing. For example, he/she must be able to read and give directions and instructions clearly and to accurately record health data from patients.
