STATUS: Temporary, Part Time: January 2026 - June 30th 2026, $13,585

LOCATION: Warren Michigan Campus

 

REPORTS TO: Program Director

 

SUMMARY:

 

This is a temporary position that will run January 2026 through June 30th, 2026. This position brings clinical expertise to the learning environment and transfers their knowledge to students by establishing and promoting an effective learning environment for students with diverse interests, abilities, needs, and expectations. Performs one-on-one and small group instruction to assist students, aid student success, assist instructors, and maintain the lab environment. Assists the Program Director & Clinical Coordinator in coordinating all aspects of laboratory learning experiences, including scheduling, organizing, stocking, taking inventory of supplies, setting up, and cleaning in the Nursing Labs These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

Responsibilities

 

• Ensures all nursing students complete HIPAA training, Bloodborne Barrier Training, CPR, Immunization requirements, and all other training/certifications required for clinical placement. Create, maintain, and update appropriate records to ensure compliance.

• Assist in the mentoring, evaluating, supervision, and training of faculty teaching in the lab, including both skills-training and simulation pedagogies.

• Ensures all faculty teaching in the lab complete student evaluations as necessary and maintains student records for accreditation documentation.

• Maintains responsibility for organization, cleanliness, restocking, and reordering of supplies for lab(s). Disposes of hazardous equipment. Maintains equipment and ensures service of equipment when needed. Maintains good relationships with clinical and laboratory sales representatives.

• Assess simulation equipment routinely for malfunctions and service needs. Arrange for equipment servicing as needed and maintain simulation manikins as recommended by the manufacturer.

• Coordinate with the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator to ensure all lab and clinical courses are fully staffed. Work to ensure lab courses within the department are delivered uniformly. Supervises and/or teaches open labs as necessary. Coordinate make up lab experiences with faculty as needed. .

• Maintains all records relating to articulation agreements with clinical sites, student evaluations of clinical sites, clinical evaluations, and all other documents in compliance with University policies, and maintains appropriate documentation for compliance and accreditation.

• Maintains responsibility for organization, cleanliness, restocking, and reordering of supplies for lab(s). Disposes of hazardous equipment. Maintains equipment and ensures service of equipment when needed. Maintains good relationships with clinical and laboratory sales representatives.

• Assess simulation equipment routinely for malfunctions and service needs. Arrange for equipment servicing as needed and maintain simulation manikins as recommended by the manufacturer.

• Recommend to the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator any supplemental resources and equipment necessary to support the program, including items and equipment needed for the nursing lab(s) and items needed for the promotion of learning outcomes. Assist in securing appropriate resources and technology to deliver quality programs.

• Participates in internal and external events to promote the College of Health Professions and its programs.

• Assists in accreditation activities and in maintaining compliance with the Michigan Board of Nursing.

• Assist students in areas that may include, but are not limited to Adobe software, networking, PC Maintenance, and Simulator platforms.

• Assists students as needed, maintaining a positive, warm attitude that encourages student learning.

• Reports concerns and issues to the Program Director & Clinical Coordinator as they arise.

• Communicate appropriately/effectively with students, staff, and faculty.

• Completes responsibilities within the best interest of the University and students.

• Handle documents and maintain appropriate confidentiality of all records-student/classroom/department (i.e. grades, attendance, etc.) In compliance with the University Instructional Policies and Procedures Manual.

• As needed, assist academic leadership to design new courses, recommend course revisions and evaluate text and instructional materials.

• Collaborate with academic leadership by participating in University assessment processes and curriculum or institutional self-studies

• Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within academics, athletics or other role specific regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelors of Science in Nursing required, Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred

Unencumbered / Current nursing license.

Demonstrated teaching ability through experience as a nurse educator, nursing staff development educator, preceptor, clinical instructor, or other equivalent.

Relevant clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.

• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

• Simulation experience preferred.

• Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning and professional development. Demonstrated ability to think critically, analyze data, and read and process detailed information in written form.

• Professional manner and attire.

• Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation, and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and oral, which transcend diverse audiences.
