Summary of Position: The primary function of the Ferris State University MDE-OST After School Program Coordinator is to provide school-wide support for the partner schools' OST (Out of School Time) program through the coordination, development, and delivery of initiatives in the out-of-school program. The coordinator collaborates with school personnel on activities and ensures that the initiatives are being implemented in alignment with the curriculum in the school district's initiatives.

Up to 14 positions may be available at partner schools including those in metro-Detroit, Big Rapids, Morley, Holland, and Grant working up to 20 hours per week. The anticipated employment dates for these positions is June 1 through September 1, 2024. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Work Experience: At least one (1) year of full-time experience working within a K-12 school district. Two years part-time is equivalent to one year full-time.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Experience teaching or working with after-school programming or other youth programs preferred.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: The Summer Program Site Coordinator collaborates with FerrisNow and grant partner school personnel on planning and daily activities and ensures that the initiatives are being implemented in alignment with the summer program goals—
(1) Coordinates and implements student success initiatives;
(2) Encourages and assists students to apply for college/financial aid as appropriate;
(3) Supports students and college faculty in the program; coordinates and provides cultural enrichment activities, including field trips for students;
(4) Works with FerrisNow program and high school leadership to encourage parent/guardian involvement;
(5) Assists in developing the end-of-summer program celebration and community engagement event;
(6) Creates and maintains program records and reports;
(7) Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members;
(8) Provides classroom oversight and support for the online college class offered as part of the program, as applicable.
(9) Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
