GRCC's https://www.grcc.edu/schools-departments/manufacturing is seeking an adjunct instructor in Technical Math. Candidates must possess an interest in working with diverse student populations from a wide range of age, ethnicity, national origin and ability; engage in and develop innovative teaching strategies and effectively assess student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty members are responsible to GRCC and to each other for the successful completion of departmental work as well as work associated with the School of Business and Industry and GRCC as a whole. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

• Teach GRCC course offering(s) in Technical Math in the Manufacturing Department.

• Teach courses and fulfill adjunct faculty responsibilities, including fostering a stimulating classroom environment, following syllabus templates, and using department-approved textbooks.

• Maintain accurate student records and provide reasonable accommodations as per ADA guidelines as approved by Disability Support Services to meet student's needs.

• Respond to communications promptly and ensure student access to course information.

• Perform tasks normally expected of adjunct faculty members

• Follow the required syllabus template.

• Comply with GRCC policies and the Faculty Association Contract.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution required.

• Master's degree in a related field preferred.

 

Skills

 

• Proficiency in Technical math comprising the study of numbers, common and decimal fractions, Scientific notation, percentages, ratios, proportions, direct and inverse variation, formulas and their transpositions, linear systems and equations, and quadratic equations

• Proficiency in Technical math comprising mathematical operations that cover interpretation and conversion of measurement units, significant figures, applied geometry, trigonometric functions of right and oblique triangles, charts, graphs, basic statistical calculations and formulas.

• Expertise in the subject area with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work with diverse student populations and faculty, and proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems (e.g.,Gmail, Canvas, Blackboard).

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

Physical Demands

 

• Some evening work (grading, preparing for class, responding to email questions) will be needed.

• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
