Candidates must possess an interest in working with diverse student populations from a wide range of age, ethnicity, national origin and ability; engage in and develop innovative teaching strategies and effectively assess student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty members are responsible to GRCC and to each other for the successful completion of departmental work as well as work associated with the School of Business and Industry and GRCC as a whole. In an environment where innovation is valued, each faculty member will take responsibility to perform their work in a manner consistent with both the letter and the spirit of GRCC values.

Adjunct needs are determined on a semester by semester basis, as are the number of sections offered each semester. GRCC classes are held at a variety of times, Monday through Saturday in different modalities such as Hybrid, Online, In-person & Virtual. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Teach GRCC course offering(s) in https://www.grcc.edu/schools-departments/manufacturing.
• Maintain lab equipment, prepare lab materials, and communicate any equipment issues with the department head
• Teach courses and fulfill adjunct faculty responsibilities, including fostering a stimulating classroom environment, following syllabus templates, and using department-approved textbooks.
• Maintain accurate student records and provide reasonable accommodations as per ADA guidelines as approved by Disability Support Services to meet student's needs.
• Respond to communications promptly and ensure student access to course information.
• Perform tasks normally expected of adjunct faculty members
• Follow the required syllabus template.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution required.
• Master's degree in a related field preferred.
• Five years of Welding Industry experience required.
• Teaching experience at a community college preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in the major welding processes: OFW-C-B, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, all positions on mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
• Excellent organization skills, and communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with a variety of people, and work independently with minimum supervision.
• High energy level with enthusiasm and interest in helping and supporting students, staff, and the general public.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
• Adhere to the code of ethics, safety regulations, maintain confidentiality, and use sound judgment in regards to safety of self and others.

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work with arms in an extended position.
• Ability to kneel, crouch, and stand on a concrete surface for extended periods.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, climb/balance, rotation of head/neck, flexion (head bent down, head bent back), twisting at the waist, handling/grasping, and fine finger manipulation.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment with an elevated level of debris.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Minimum vision of 20/200 correctable to 20/20.

• Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, 20 feet or more, the ability to bring objects into sharp focus, judge distance and space relationships, and identify and/or distinguish colors.
• Adequate vision to read printed materials, blue prints, and computer screens.

• Adequate hearing/speech strategies to effectively communicate in person

Mental Demands

• Strong initiative, problem-solving, and ability to handle unexpected duties.
• High energy and enthusiasm for supporting students and colleagues under pressure.
• Must use good judgment in handling sensitive or difficult situations in a professional manner.
• Ability to work under pressure while possessing mature judgment and flexibility in regards to interruptions and schedule changes.

Working Conditions

• Travel to off campus sites. GRCC maintains welding labs at the Tassell MTEC and the Lakeshore Campus.
