Faculty members are responsible to GRCC and to each other for the successful completion of departmental work, as well as associated with the School of Arts and Sciences and GRCC as a whole. In addition to the major position responsibilities, it is expected that faculty demonstrate outstanding communication skills, collaborate effectively, use personal initiative to overcome obstacles and work efficiently to meet deadlines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide leadership in the development and promotion of an instruction program that facilitates student's acquisition of library research and information literacy skills.
• Lead the LLC's Information Literacy Team establishing learning targets and the methods to achieve them.
• Coordinate the development of instructional materials, research guides, tutorials, and other asynchronous learning resources within the Information Literacy Team.
• Promote information literacy initiatives within the GRCC community.
• Develop faculty partnerships to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
• Schedule and teach information literacy classes.
• Coordinate assessment planning to measure student learning outcomes.
• Assist and assess GRCC librarians in the development of their pedagogical effectiveness.
• Design and facilitate training opportunities for librarians that promote their continuing development as teachers, including content and pedagogy.
• Review and evaluate all locations where GRCC classes take place to ensure student access to LLC services and collections.
• Coordinate outreach to the College community including event planning, social media initiatives, faculty/staff training, and student orientation sessions.
• Monitor ADA compliance in collaboration with Disability Services.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

• Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution required.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in education preferred.

Work Experience

• Three years experience of recent professional experience in instruction and reference services required including: experience in information literacy instruction planning and design, substantial classroom teaching in information literacy, broad experience with a wide variety of print and electronic resources, broad experience working with diverse populations, demonstrated initiative in outreach activities, general reference service, collection development and liaison service.
• Experience assessing the learning outcomes of information literacy preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in using electronic library and information resources and computer applications such as Microsoft Office required.
• Technological skill, such as desktop publishing and Web page design and creation.
• Working knowledge of Blackboard.
• Excellent communication skills.

Physical Demands

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

• Ability to perform routine and unexpected duties with minimum supervision.
• High energy level with enthusiasm and interest in helping and supporting students, staff, and the general public.
