STATUS: Part Time

 

DEPARTMENT: Accounting-Bookstore

 

LOCATION: Grand Rapids-W.A. Lettinga Campus-Campus Store

 

REPORTS TO: Campus Store Assistant Manager

 

PAY: $15.00-$16.00

 

Overview: As a Marketing Intern for the Davenport University Campus Store, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing while contributing to the success of our store's promotional efforts. This internship offers a dynamic environment where you will collaborate with a team of professionals, learn valuable skills, and make meaningful contributions to the growth and visibility of the campus store.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Marketing:

 

• Assist in creating engaging and relevant content for the campus store's social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.

• Generate creative ideas for posts, stories, and campaigns to increase brand awareness and drive student engagement.

• Schedule and publish content according to the content calendar, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.

• Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries from followers in a timely and professional manner.

• Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of marketing campaigns aimed at promoting merchandise, events, and special promotions.

• Conduct market research to identify target audiences, trends, and competitor strategies.

• Monitor campaign performance metrics and analyze data to optimize future marketing initiatives.

• Support the team in promoting campus store events, sales, and initiatives both online and offline.

• Assist with event planning and coordination, including logistics, promotion, and on-site support as needed.

• Capture photos and videos during events to create engaging content for social media and other marketing channels.

• Work closely with other departments within the campus store, including merchandising, sales, and customer service, to support integrated marketing efforts.

• Collaborate with student organizations, campus clubs, and academic departments to explore partnership opportunities and cross-promotion.

• Update and maintain the campus store website with accurate product information, pricing, and promotions.

• Conduct regular audits of the website to identify and fix any issues related to usability, functionality, or performance.

 

Retail Operations:

 

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers, answering questions, and resolving any issues or concerns.

• Assist in maintaining inventory levels by restocking shelves, organizing merchandise displays, and conducting regular inventory counts.

• Process transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system and ensure accuracy in pricing and product information.

• Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store, including keeping shelves, displays, and checkout areas neat and tidy.

• Assist with receiving and processing shipments of merchandise, including unpacking boxes, checking in inventory, and updating records.

• Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient store operation, including opening and closing procedures.

 

Qualifications:

 

• High School graduate or GED, Associates/Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and information to diverse audiences.

• Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools, with a creative mindset and attention to detail.

• Basic knowledge of retail operations and customer service principles, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a positive attitude and a willingness to take initiative.

• Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.

• Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.

• Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
