Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

Reporting to the Head Men's Soccer Coach, the assistant coach is responsible for assisting in all phases of the men's soccer program in accordance with the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) rules and philosophies. the assistant coach will help provide program direction and vision, help establish Student-Athlete recruitment strategies and goals, assist with Student-Athlete academic success, help create competition strategies and practice plans, deliver coaching direction to student athletes, and help with the oversight of practices and games.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

• Assist with all aspects of the men's soccer program; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential;

• Support student-athlete academic and athletic excellence, leadership development and community engagement;

• Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the College, as well as the rules and regulations of the NJCAA, MCCAA and any other authorities that affect the intercollegiate athletic program;

• Assist in team development including establishing goals, objectives, and values for the program consistent with mission of Athletics Department;

• Assists in motivating student-athletes to perform to maximum levels;

• Assists with the conditioning and training of team members in conjunction with the training; unit to ensure that student-athletes are physically prepared for competition;

• Utilizes sound teaching techniques in the preparation of games and practices.

• Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSA's will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Qualifications

 

• Associates degree required.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Three or more years of soccer coaching experience required.

• Collegiate coaching experience preferred.

• Collegiate recruiting experience preferred.

• Knowledge of NJCAA or NCAA eligibility and compliance preferred.

• Administrative experience preferred.

• NJCAA experience preferred.

• Hudl Software

• Appropriate technology required to perform the duties of the position.

 

Physical Demands

 

• Ability to lift 50lbs.

• Ability to stand, sit and demonstrate the skills necessary to teach the game of Soccer.

• Capacity to coach in various environments

• Model good sportsmanship, discipline and accountability.

 

Mental Demands

 

• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff and students.

• Experience working with non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic skills.

• Understanding of confidentiality as related to professional Code of Ethics, HIPPA and FERPA guidelines.
