Advertised Salary: $85,000 - $95,000. Salary commensurate with education, experiences, and other requirements. Comprehensive benefits package (health care, vacation, etc.)

Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Director of Charter Schools, provide leadership and administrative service necessary to accomplish the goals of Ferris State University as they pertain to Charter Schools. This position includes researching and utilizing data to help provide direction for the Charter Schools Office. Monitor and assess the contractual progress of the public school academies authorized by the University. In collaboration with CSO staff, establish and monitor contractual academic goals, develop assessment, monitoring strategies, and reporting methods that provide clear and detailed information demonstrating all aspects of performance for each academy. The position reports to the Big Rapids CSO office. Additionally, it is expected that, throughout your work, you will need to travel and support our efforts in promoting the statewide FSU student success hubs, dual enrollment opportunities, and building bridges between the charter schools you are supporting and Ferris to increase Ferris enrollment.

The anticipated start date for this position is July 2024. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

Required Education: Master’s degree in educational field.
Required Work Experience: Demonstrated highly effective managerial and organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.

Five years in school leadership role; demonstrated successful experience with managerial and organizational responsibilities in K-12 education.
Required Licenses and Certifications: A current valid driver’s license.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in appropriate discipline.

Experience working with charter schools.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: In the Director’s absence or as assigned, represent the University in official charter school activities and provide leadership and direction to the CSO.

Supervise assigned Charter Schools Office (CSO) staff.

Assist in the review of charter applications and the authorizing/reauthorizing process for public school academies as appropriate.

Must be able to travel and work extended and varied time schedules.

Must be willing and able to travel to FSU authorized academies to represent the CSO.

Participate in the collection of data and preparation of reports for the University Board of Trustees.

Establish a collaborative and supportive working relationship with each FSU authorized academy’s Board of Directors, administrative staff, and educational service provider, when appropriate.

Be knowledgeable regarding state and federal assessment programs and accountability systems.

Maintain familiarity with and monitor each academy’s fiscal performance.

Work collaboratively with appropriate academy staff and the CSO in the development of strategic interventions for academies assigned to School Support.

Facilitate meetings and updates with the school improvement teams and Michigan Department of Education for each Academy in any State Accountability Initiatives.

Assist in the gathering of pertinent data required for in-depth analysis and reporting of each academy’s academic progress and achievement relative to their contractual goals with FSU.

Make presentations regarding instruction, assessment methods, and other related topics to academy Boards, local, state, and national groups or organizations as appropriate.

Assist with the development of training programs on achievement, assessment methods, and other topics for CSO staff, Academy Boards of Directors, Academy personnel, and others.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Reports directly to the Director of Charter Schools. Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information and for performing all duties in conformance with applicable regulations, policies, etc.

Responsible for the supervision and training of assigned staff within area of responsibility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.

Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
