Position Title: Part-Time Bus Driver
Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus)

Advertised Salary: $14.00-$17.50. Salary commensurate with education, experiences and other requirements.

Summary of Position: Provide safe transportation for passengers, equipment, and packages. Assist in maintenance of University owned and leased vehicles.
Position Type: Staff
Required Education: High school diploma or GED equivalency.
Required Work Experience: Three years full-time equivalent of combined bus and heavy equipment truck driving, with emphasis on bus driving experience. Demonstrated experience with minor automotive repair and driving all types of vehicles.
Required Licenses and Certifications: Valid Michigan commercial driver’s license (CDL), Group A or B with endorsements ‘P’ with no restrictions, airbrakes and DOT medical card.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:  
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Check safety of lights, tires, water, battery, fluids (windshield washer, oil, power steering), and replace or add as needed.
Clean and/or deliver a variety of goods and equipment to/from off and on campus locations.
Drive commercial-type vehicles to safely transport students, faculty and/or add as needed.
Pick up/deliveries to/from campus, newly purchased University vehicles and pick up, haul and/or deliver a variety of goods and equipment to/from off and on campus locations.
Report needed repairs that warrant mechanic’s attention.
Wash, vacuum, extract motor vehicle interior and/or as needed.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
Maintain safety and health standards in all duties and responsibilities.
Maintain safety and security of equipment, vehicles, keys, tools, materials, and inventories.
Report to immediate supervisor.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Assist other service workers as needed.
Skills and Abilities: Available to works days, evenings, and weekends.
Check and correct safety of vehicle lights and fluid levels.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty and visitors.
Keep accurate records.
Read, understand and follow directions Check and correct safety of vehicle lights and fluid levels.
Understand, use good judgment, and follow procedures established through safety training and the physical plant safety manual.
Work harmoniously with others in situations of variable temperatures; noise; and stressful workloads.
Work independently.
Lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Meet applicable Department of Transportation requirements.
Must pass physical exam and drug test every two years.
Sit, walk, lift, and bend.
Test drug free and/or to submitting application.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
