Financial Assistant I
Nature of Work
The purpose of this job is to perform clerical accounting and other procedural financial transactions work involving the preparation, maintenance and review of financial and/or related records or documents. The current opening in Engineering department will work on the Accounting team, assisting in payroll and related functions and ensuring that vendors get paid for services and products rendered. This includes reviewing and processing invoices, auditing credit card bills, answering vendor inquiries, reconciling vendor statements, and processing and distributing checks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Opens, sorts, checks, verifies and processes various financial documents
- Review financial documents for accuracy and compliance with best practices
- Prepares, maintains, and verifies payroll information; maintains personnel files; orders supplies and equipment.
- Enters data into appropriate financial accounting systems
- Researches and resolves issues related to financial transactions
- Compiles data and prepares a variety of statistical and other financial reports
- Provides lookup and verification assistance to staff, customers and third party vendors related to financial documents and transactions
- Interacts with internal and external customers regarding financial transactions.
- Maintains various financial/statistical records and required archived documents
- Makes journal entries
- Performs related work as required
Minimum Training and Experience
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
- At least two (2) years of related work experience in bookkeeping or related field
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Desired Experience
- Knowledge of Accounts Payable principles and practices

- English grammar, spelling, punctuation

- Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment

- Mail opening, document processing and work station equipment
