The Director of Engineering and Technology is a member of the senior leadership team responsible for overseeing all technical and engineering operations of WGVU Public Media. This person will ensure the effective deployment, maintenance, and innovation of broadcast, IT, and digital technologies.
Salary & Benefits:
$105,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience.

.Primary Duties
• Serves as a member of the WGVU senior leadership team, responsible for helping set the mission, vision, and values for WGVU Public Media.
• Develop and supervise the implementation of a comprehensive technology strategy for broadcast, IT, and digital infrastructure and delivery. This includes department budgeting and resource allocation.
• Oversee the purchase, design, installation, operations, and maintenance of all technical systems.
• Manage the relationship between WGVU Public Media and Grand Valley State University IT.
• Manage all leases with tower tenants, working with University Counsel to ensure compliance with Grand Valley State University policies and procedures.
• Manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including cyber security measures.
• Ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, PBS, NPR, and Grand Valley State University standards; prepare reports and applications for submission to federal/state/local regulatory agencies, including but not limited to the stations Public File, license applications to the FCC and FAA, and any permits required by local regulatory agencies.
• Work with station grant writer(s) to support grant applications for technology procurement and upgrades. Manage all aspects of awards for technology grants.
• Participate in WGVU on air fund drives and at WGVU events to support development and community engagement activities.
• Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in broadcast engineering, IT management or similar role, with at least 5 years in a supervisory leadership role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast systems, RF technology, media over IP, Next Gen TV and Digital Media workflows.
• Expertise in IT infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity.
• Experience with various computer software applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, etc).
• Commitment to WGVU's vision of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work within a collaborative multiplatform culture and environment.
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and work self-sufficiently with little direction when required.
• Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work on location as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
• Bachelors or master's degree in engineering, computers science, information systems, or a related field.
• Experience in Public Media.
• Experience in higher education.
