Summary of Position: | The Assistant Football coach will be responsible for assisting in recruiting and coaching the Offensive or Defensive line members of the football team. This position is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by the NCAA at the Division II level. |

Required Education: | Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. |
Required Work Experience: | Played or coached at the collegiate level, or 4 years coaching at a major high school or 2 years playing in professional football. A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required. |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | Master’s Degree preferred. Effective leadership, communication, coaching and recruiting skills is preferred. |
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Maintains knowledge and rules of the NCAA as it relates to this position. Recruits student-athletes and complete necessary compliance paperwork with regard to recruiting. Assists in study hall or academic counseling sessions. Maintain a knowledge of strategies, as well the technique to safely and efficiently execute these strategies. Assist with preventative measures of performance related injuries. Provides academic, personal, and growth-related counseling for position players. Head of technology as it relates to equipment, software, and education. Coordinates student walk-ons, and student assistants for operational duties. Assists in preparation for game plan. Assists with practice planning. Utilizes summer camp exposure as positive public relations work for the institution. Advanced knowledge of fundamentals and techniques of the line. Reports to the Head football coach directly. Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information. Responsible for social media presence acquiring new prospective student athletes, volunteers, fans, and views for our program. Provide creative problem solving in high stress situations. Educates athletes on nutrition and high performance health solutions. Operates university motor or personal vehicles safely while carrying out job responsibilities. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: | Assist in management and coordination of staff meetings and practice schedules. Performs public relations work. Performs fundraising activities. Maintain recruiting expenses and enter in concur. Represent Ferris State University and the Football program in a professional manner. |
Skills and Abilities: | Demonstrated experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. |
