Summary of Position: Assist with the coaching, recruitment and administrative duties relating to the intercollegiate volleyball program. Must be able to travel with team and for recruiting. Additional earnings possible with sports camps. This is a 12-month position.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Required Work Experience: At least two years volleyball coaching experience or collegiate playing experience. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Experience playing at the collegiate level. Experience with video editing software and recruiting. Collegiate volleyball coaching experience.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Ferris State University.

Represent and promote the volleyball program on the campus, in the conference, and throughout the State under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach.

Travel with the student athletes to away games.

Maintain effective liaison with other people and units on the campus as appropriate.

Maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of staff to include, athletic trainer, facility and equipment manager, athletic business manager, sports information personnel, team physician, other coaching colleagues, faculty and administrators, and other university employees, students and parents.

Assist with the planning and implementation of all practice sessions.

Assist with video analysis of opponents and team.

Assist with other coaching related responsibilities deemed necessary by the head coach.

Maintain and distribute individual and team statistics to use for match preparation and practice planning.

Coordinate home game management.

Assist with monitoring academic progress of athletes, arrange for academic support, etc.

Assist with the recruiting of student athletes to include but not limited to: evaluation, visits, contacts, and complete all administrative reports and information as required by NCAA and Ferris State Compliance Office. Travel for recruiting purposes.

Supervise student managers, work study students, and interns.

Attend meetings as needed.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.

Reports to the Head Volleyball Coach.

Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.

Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Operates university motor or personal vehicles safely while carrying out job responsibilities.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
