Admissions Representative I - High School

 

STATUS: Full-time, Exempt

 

DEPARTMENT: Admissions

 

LOCATION: Grand Rapids, Lettinga Campus

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Admissions

 

SALARY: $45,000

 

SUMMARY:

 

This position will establish and maintain effective partnerships with high schools and career tech centers in designated territories, generate interest with high school populations, conduct appointments with students and their parents, secure applications for admission from new students, and coordinate follow-up activities. Utilizing an entrepreneurial spirit, Admission Representatives will develop an enrollment strategy to meet their objectives. Admissions Representatives must successfully transition new students into developing working relationships with Advisors. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values, which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Promote DU's system, services, and programs to high school populations through presentations and recruitment activities. Focus on juniors and seniors who are faced with making critical career and education decisions.

• Consistently generate high numbers of quality inquiries and applications.

• Participate in and assist in planning recruiting functions as requested, including but not limited to college fairs and recruitment events. Utilize a strategic account management plan to manage recruitment territory.

• Meet/Contact prospective new students through various methods, including but not limited to phone calls, appointments, incoming calls, web applications/leads, Call Center appointments, and external events.

• Remain the point of contact for all new students from inquiry to the start of classes, facilitating the transition to the Advisor.

• Assist students with financial aid planning, payment arrangements, and scholarship opportunities.

• Assist students in requesting all relevant admission documentation and, as necessary, schedule assessment and discuss results with the student as needed, after their application is secure.

• Document all prospective student and new student interactions in the CRM and student information systems.

• Provide back up to the Admissions Rep - Athletics by providing support to incoming student athletes and the athletics department as needed.

• Efficiently utilize computer systems and databases to research, analyze, and present data.

• Demonstrate understanding of all academic programs, customer service, financial aid, internal processes, and student types.

• Adhere to all privacy (i.e., FERPA) rules and regulations.

• Develop and maintain consistent referral generation activities.

• Submit accurate and timely reports as directed.

• Attend meetings and training as directed with successful participation/completion.

• Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC, and national affiliations associated with athletics or other role-specific regulations.

• Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.

• Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Bachelor's degree (from an accredited institution) required, preferably in business, marketing or sales-related fields.

• 3-5 years of successful team selling experience, to include telephone appointment setting, interviewing, closing, and follow-up skills.

• Demonstrated successful outside sales or account management experience required. Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.

• Bilingual candidates preferred.

• Demonstrated effective public speaking skills.

• Strong organizational skills, motivation, and self-direction.

• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and manner.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, meet deadlines, and accomplish goals.

• Ability to work accurately and effectively with technology systems.

• Considerable travel involved, periodic overnight stays may be required.

• Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills required.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, which transcend diverse audiences.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to donors, alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

• Demonstrated motivational and problem-solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.

• Strong work ethic.

• Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to: standard criminal background check and employment reference checks. Select positions may be subject to drug/alcohol screening.

• Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Some travel between campuses is required (own transportation).

• No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

• Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
