Job Summary:

 

This position is responsible for scheduling temporary staff to fulfill labor needs for simulation events. In addition, is responsible for receiving, processing, and scheduling requests for the use of GVSU's Interprofessional Simulation Center. Coordinates with area managers to determine the most suitable spaces and dates based on faculty requests; and serves as the lead scheduler for courses using the Interprofessional Simulation Center each semester.

 

Job Classification & Benefits:

 

C4 Level. Minimum starting wage of $22.04 per hour.

Essential Functions:

 

• Works with the Standardized Patient Program team to schedule temporary staff based on simulation event needs.

• Coordinates temporary staff schedule and confirm work assignments.

• Collaborates and establishes relationships with temporary employees and area managers to fill shifts that have been vacated, ensuring that staffing needs are consistently met.

• Schedules labs and simulation events according to the specific needs of each request received.

• Determines the best space use of the Simulation Center in conjunction with area managers and schedule academic programs each semester.

• Manages the center's scheduling system (CAE LearningSpace, EMS, Outlook) to ensure efficient use of space for training sessions, workshops, and other activities. This entails creating the database of temporary staff and schedules into CAE LearningSpace.

• Submits requests to other departments for space reservations outside of the Interprofessional Simulation Center.

• Schedules tours and visits to the Interprofessional Simulation Center, including coordinating with Kirkhof College of Nursing and College of Health Professions.

• Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications:

 

• High school graduate or equivalent.

• Minimum of four years of relevant work experience.

• Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.

• Experience with various computer software applications such as Microsoft Office and/or equivalent.

• Data entry experience.

• Typing and spelling competency with grammar and proofreading skills.

• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.

• Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.

• Demonstrated experience to successfully coordinate large projects.

• Demonstrated experience to successfully handle multiple demands efficiently.

• Demonstrated experience to successfully organize and prioritize workload.

• Demonstrated experience to successfully navigate challenging situations in the workplace, while using good judgement.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor's degree.

• Excellent organizational, research, writing, and communications skills to develop relationship with the customers and to understand and recognize their support requirements.

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently, establish priorities, organize work, and maintain performance under pressure and with multiple conflicting deadlines.

• Possess the knowledge and skills to perform job essential functions.

Supervision Received:

 

Receives minimal supervision from a designated supervisor. Much of the work is self-initiated. Person is expected to function with considerable independence and apply appropriate policies and procedures within the assigned area of responsibility.

 

Supervision Exercised:

 

Hire, train, schedule and coordinate the work of student employees and may act as lead worker to PSS staff members within the department/unit/division.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Normal office environment. Some travel may be required. Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
