This position will be responsible for providing students with the knowledge and skills to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). The CNA Primary Instructor combines theory and real-world experience to create a positive learning environment to prepare students for the State of Michigan Nurse Aide Certification Exam. The CNA Primary Instructor is responsible for classroom teaching, laboratory skills training, and supervising students in a clinical training setting.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, an understanding of the care provided in a skilled nursing setting, and the ability to instruct CNA students with patience, professionalism, and expertise.


WORK LOCATION: Midland, Michigan (training location)

SCHEDULE: Day shift, Monday through Thursday. Course runs 4 hours per day for 4 weeks. There is a break before the next 4-week course.

COMPENSATION: $40/hour, paid on a contract basis ($3,600 per 4-week Program)

SPECIFIC COURSE INFORMATION: The Primary Instructor for our CNA Training program is responsible for instruction and skill demonstration in the classroom, lab, and clinical setting, facilitating student learning and success, documenting student learning, and providing additional tutoring to students as needed. The ideal candidate will be able to create a positive learning environment while utilizing a variety of teaching techniques. This person will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining records related to student learning, and have a demonstrated ability to work with and train diverse populations.

Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions:
Provide classroom and clinical instruction.
Prepare course section syllabi, grade student work, and submit grades per college policy.
Participate in curriculum review, student advising, and student recruitment activities.
Is onsite and available during 100% of the classroom and laboratory time.
Is onsite and available during 100% of the clinical teaching time.
Delivers course work using contemporary teaching strategies and practices.
Accurately records students' daily attendance.
Follows and enforces Student Guidelines.
Maintains classroom in good physical order, helps to manage program supplies and keep equipment in good repair.
Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times.
Instructors must qualify as stated below.


Required Qualifications:
A minimum of an Associate Degree of Nursing
A current/active Michigan Registered Nurse license that is in good standing
A minimum of 2 years (4,000 hrs) of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services (federally certified CMS facility-state licensed long-term care)
Michigan Nurse Aide Trainer Certificate that is in good standing (will be required to teach)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (preferred)

Master of Science in Nursing


Additional Information:
In this contract position, the CNA Instructor would work 4 weeks at a time, approximately 4 hours per day. Classes would be held 4-6 times per year.
Classroom hours can vary between 8am - 12pm or 1pm - 5pm; other 4-hour time blocks will be considered.
This role will act as a classroom, lab, and clinical instructor.
Compensation will be paid per cohort on a bi-weekly basis.
